A homeless woman stole an idling car with a 2-year-old girl in the backseat Sunday afternoon, hitting a bicyclist and crashing into three parked cars during her brief joyride, the New York Daily News reported.
Adrea Aronald, 52, was charged with kidnapping, reckless endangerment and grand larceny, WNBC reported.
According to police, the toddler's 29-year-old mother left the child strapped in a car seat in the back of her Honda Accord while she went into a Brooklyn store to get some food, the Daily News reported.
That’s when Aronald allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat of the unlocked car and drove away.
She hit a bicyclist two blocks away, continued driving and crashed into three parked cars, the New York Post reported.
Police arrested Aronald, while the 36-year-old bicyclist suffered minor injuries, the newspaper reported. The child was not hurt.
