Rocky Creek Elementary school’s fourth grade teacher, Gaelon Farquharson has been recognized by Symetra Financial as one of its 16 Heroes in the Classroom. Symetra and the Atlanta Falcons, in partnership with SunTrust Bank, honored the Henry County teacher at a school assembly Monday. The Heroes in the Classroom program is in its fourth year in the Atlanta area and recognizes teachers who balance the core curriculum with students’ individual needs, build trust among students, parents, and the community and invest in their students’ long-term success. Principal Jay Fowler said Farquharson goes above and beyond. “He truly does whatever it takes to see his students succeed,” Fowler said. The honor netted the school $1,000 for supplies in Farquharson’s name, an autographed Julio Jones jersey, and tickets and a VIP experience for the Falcons’ home opener against the St. Louis Rams.
