A Gwinnett County insurance agent and her husband face multiple charges for allegedly defrauding clients of at least $31,000, state officials announced Tuesday.

Glenn Allen, spokesman for state Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens, said warrants have been issued charging agent Cynthia Dunn, 48, with one count of insurance fraud, one count of forgery and one count of misappropriation of premiums

Warrants have also been issued charging 53-year-old Ronald Alan Dunn, who Allen said is not a licensed agent, with seven counts of insurance fraud, three counts of forgery, two counts of identity fraud and three counts of violating state licensing requirements.

Allen said an investigation by the commissioner’s Fraud Division revealed that the suspects, who own Dunn Right Insurance Agency in Loganville, kept premium payments made by three area businesses and created fraudulent Certificates of Insurance, “leading their clients to believe that actual insurance coverage was in place.”

According to Allen, insurance fraud is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
