A man was killed and his bride seriously injured in Columbia County when their car crossed into another lane and crashed into another vehicle on June 2 — their wedding night.

Brian Orzechowski, 36, was driving the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Crystal Orzechowski, 35, was air lifted to Georgia Regents University’s Medical Center in critical condition, according to WRDW-TV Augusta. As of Monday, her condition has stabilized to “fair.”

The two were leaving their wedding reception in Columbia County and were driving to spend the night at Clarks Hill Lake, a reservoir between Georgia and South Carolina.

Capt. Steven Morris from the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said officers can’t confirm what caused the accident yet.

Police say the driver of the other car, Torvoy Curry, 35, was not at fault in the accident.
