Louis Meador, 62, died Sept. 1 and his funeral was six days later, the television station reported. Several days of rain prevented Meador's burial, cemetery officials at Washington Park East Cemetery told WXIN, but Audrey Meador said her husband of 26 years still has not been interred.

"I just want to do right by him. I loved him so much. He was my world," Audrey Meador told the television station.

Members of the Meador family said they called the cemetery a few days ago and were told Louis Meador had been buried, WXIN reported. But they found an empty hole when they visited the plot.

"We walked up to a hole not covered with wood, not nothing. Mud tracks everywhere all over people's headstones," said Dawn Meador, Louis' daughter.

"I lost it. I expected a mound of dirt, you know, and there was just that hole with I know it had to be 2 foot of water or more," Audrey Meador said.

Mark McCrocklin, the Washington Park Cemetery Association's general manager. told WXIN there was a miscommunication to move Meador from the temporary mausoleum, so officials thought he had been buried.

The plot and headstone, bought 10 years ago by Louis Meador, is still flooded and the family was offered another spot, McCrocklin told WXIN.

"This area it's just very low and everything drains to that point. Like I said even after the little dry spell we've had after the weather I did not feel comfortable when I was standing there," McCrocklin said.

The Meador family is seeking a full refund and wants to move Louis Meador to a new cemetery. McCrocklin said he would consider a refund and offered to schedule a burial for Friday. The family declined that offer, the television station reported.

"We can't fully get closure and try to finish our grieving process until my dad is resting peacefully," Dawn Meador told WXIN.
