A week after he was killed inside the Whitfield County convenience store where he worked, friends will gather Sunday to say goodbye.
The funeral for Dayahbhai Kalidas “DK” Chaudhari, 37, of Dalton, will be held Sunday at noon at Ponders Melrose Chapel in Dalton. Visitation will be held an hour before the funeral, and a cremation service is planned for 1 p.m., according to the funeral home.
Chaudhari, a native of Badpura, India, was stabbed to death inside an Airport Road store late Sunday. Store owners previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution they believe DK was approached from behind by a woman who covered his mouth and hit him in the back of the head.
Two days after Chaudhari's death, U.S. Marshal arrested a 21-year-old suspect in the killing. Skyy Raven Marie Mims, of Detroit, was booked late Tuesday into the Whitfield County jail, where she remained Friday night without bond.
Mims’ bond hearing, previously scheduled for Friday morning, was cancelled at the request of her public defender. It has not yet been rescheduled.
