A packed house at the DeKalb County commissioner meeting gave a standing ovation Tuesday for the efforts of a 911 operator and school bookkeeper who helped avert a school shooting last week.

The tense 911 call between dispatcher Kendra McCray and McNair elementary school worker Antoinette Tuff silenced the crowd before the ceremony to honor them and other emergency responders.

No one was injured in the incident, which ended when Tuff convinced the gunman to surrender.
