Metro Atlanta is in store for another warm day, but it may not be a be bad idea to pack an umbrella.
While Friday morning is off to a dry start, isolated showers are expected to move through the city after lunch, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
That chance of afternoon showers will stick around each day through at least Tuesday, though there should be plenty of chances to get outside this weekend.
“It is going to be a hot weekend, but we’ll be able to get in those outdoor plans as well,” he said. “Fairly dry weather (today) ... but after lunchtime, we will see the chance for an isolated downpour or two.”
Temperatures are starting off in the upper 70s Friday morning before warming up to a high of 93 degrees, according to the latest forecast. Today marks the fifth straight day of 90-degree weather in metro Atlanta.

“We’ve got our hottest stretch of weather this year,” Monahan said. “Four straight days in the 90s and we’ll make it a fifth today, a sixth on Saturday and a seventh on Sunday.”
Atlanta’s heat streak is expected to continue into next week, and the humidity will only make it feel warmer.

An earlier wreck that snarled traffic on the west side of the Perimeter is starting to clear, the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center reported. A crash on the Inner Loop at Hollowell Parkway had most lanes blocked, but traffic started moving again about 5:30 a.m.
Some delays remain heading into Cobb County, however.
In Atlanta, a crash with injuries is blocking two lanes of Moreland Avenue at I-20. Traffic is light, however, and the wreck isn’t causing any major delays.
