Forsyth County recently completed a regional wastewater lift station and force main on McGinnis Ferry Road that is projected to save the county’s water and sewer department nearly $1 million a year in operational costs.

The $7.6 million project is sized to handle flows generated by future development in south Forsyth County. It includes a concrete diversion structure which diverts wastewater that previously flowed to a Fulton County treatment facility to the county’s own treatment facility.

Water and sewer officials say the new station should pay for itself in seven years.
