Kyra Johnson, 30, is charged with abuse by a caretaker, the television station reported.

The patient, an 81-year-old man with dementia, was living at the Village on the Park in Oklahoma City, KFOR reported.

According to court records, other employees saw Johnson chop up a jalapeño pepper and mix it with his eggs, the television station reported.

According to the affidavit, one co-worker told Johnson, “I hope that is not hot,” and Johnson responded, “I hope it is.”

Johnson was seen feeding the man the mixture, KFOR reported. According to an affidavit, the man was seen "fanning and gasping for air to cool his mouth."

Officials at Village on the Park said Johnson no longer works at the facility, KTEN reported. Johnson declined to comment without her lawyer when contacted by KFOR.
