Police Wednesday identified the elderly woman found dead in her home Tuesday morning as 86-year-old Juanita Calvert of Marietta.
Marietta Police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said Calvert “died of an apparent gunshot wound under very suspicious circumstances.”
Just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, a man went to a home in the 200 block of Aviation Road, found a deceased elderly woman and called 911, he said. The man is the caretaker for the couple who lives at the home and is cooperating with detectives, Baldwin said.
The woman’s husband was at home at the time of the incident, but Baldwin said the husband “is not considered a person of interest and was not injured.”
The man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where he could be cared for, police said.
