Social media debate Malia Obama's choice to attend Harvard instead of a HBCU

Malia Obama will attend Harvard University after taking a gap year, the White House announced Sunday.

While many on social media have congratulated the eldest daughter of President Obama, others are criticizing her decision to attend an Ivy League school instead of a historically black institution  — sparking an ongoing debate and a trending topic on Twitter Monday afternoon.
