DeKalb County will close its three COVID-19 testing sites and five drive-thru flu shot locations Thursday due to expected storms from the remnants of Hurricane Zeta.

All of metro Atlanta is under a tropical storm warning through Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Hurricane Zeta is expected to make landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon before moving through the southeast.

By Thursday morning, the hurricane’s remnants are predicted to enter Georgia, bringing torrential rain, flooding and the potential for isolated tornadoes. Some areas are expected to get up to 4 inches of rain, prompting a flash flood watch for all of North Georgia that will expire Thursday evening.

“We’re going to have a three- to four-hour window — let’s say about 4 a.m. (Thursday) morning to about 8 a.m. (Thursday) morning — where the weather is going to be really tough around here,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.

Any appointments scheduled for Thursday at any of DeKalb’s testing sites will be moved to Friday, Saturday and next week, according to the DeKalb County Board of Health.
