A DeKalb County police officer barely escaped injury after he tried to stop the driver of a stolen truck on Sunday morning, according to Channel 2 Action News.

DeKalb police ran the tag and discovered that a white Ford pickup had been reported stolen. Police tried to stop the truck using a barrier at I-20 and Sigman Road, Channel 2 reported.

At first the driver acted as though he would stop, but then sped up, hitting one officer’s car.

The truck eventually crashed just over the Rockdale County line, hitting at least two cars in a used car lot, near the intersection of Sigman and Rockdale roads, Channel 2 reported.

The driver and passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, Channel 2 reported. Charges are pending, police told Channel 2.
