A man accused of fatally shooting a 22-year-old outside a DeKalb County Walmart was arrested on sex trafficking charges in Miami, authorities said Thursday.
Delon Hooks, 26, has been wanted since April in the shooting death of Jeremiah Smith, police said. Hooks was arrested Oct. 13 by Miami-Dade police and is awaiting extradition to Georgia, according to authorities.
Smith was shot and killed after an argument that started inside the Walmart and ended in the parking lot on Fairington Road on April 19, according to DeKalb police spokeswoman Michaela Vincent. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police had released a surveillance photo of Hooks and another man entering the store before the deadly shooting. Doorbell footage showing one of those men was also released.
The other suspect is still at large.
Hooks was booked into a Miami-area jail with no bond. He’s charged with human trafficking, prostitution and unlawful use of a communication device, according to online jail records.
