A Stone Mountain woman has been charged in an April crash in Gwinnett County that killed a married father of four, Lilburn police said.

Amberyana C. Worthy, 23, has been jailed without bond on charges of vehicular homicide, hit and run, and failure to yield, according to jail records. She turned herself in Thursday at the Lilburn Police Department and was taken to the Gwinnett jail, Lilburn police Capt. Thom Bardugon said.

About 6 a.m. April 26, Thomas Baptiste, 42, of Lawrenceville, was headed south on Lawrenceville Highway toward Atlanta when Worthy, driving an Acura sedan northbound, turned left onto Summer Ridge Lane, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. Worthy's vehicle hit Baptiste's motorcycle. Baptiste died at the scene.

Worthy, who left the scene of the crash and returned a short time later, did not grant Baptiste the right of way and illegally left the accident scene, according to warrants.

The Atlanta chapter of the Dirty South Stunners Motorcycle Club, of which Baptiste was a member, set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral expenses.
