Cobb County authorities have charged a woman with leaving a 2-month-old boy on the doorstep of an Austell residence this month.
About 1 p.m. on Jan. 8, Jashundra White of Newnan left the child outside a home in the 6700 block of Ivy Log Drive, according to the arrest warrant. The temperature was about 32 degrees at the time.
White said the child’s father lived at the house, according to the warrant. She left the child after she knocked on all the doors and windows of the house but did not make contact with any of the residents.
White was arrested two days later on a charge of reckless conduct, according to jail records. She was released on $2,400 bond Jan. 11.
A woman who lived at the house told police that her son was not the boy’s father, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The woman contacted her son, who then called the baby’s mother, the station reported. The maternal grandmother picked up the baby.
