Police have identified a person of interest in connection with a hit-and-run that severely injured a pedestrian in Carrollton last Wednesday.

The victim was crossing Alabama Street about 11:30 p.m. when someone in a black 2017 Hyundai Accent hit him while turning left on Brumbelow Road and kept driving, police said.

The victim is in a medically-induced coma in the intensive care unit of Grady Memorial Hospital, Cpl. Chad Krish of the Carrollton traffic division said. The victim has several fractures and may have to have an amputation.

Krish said an officer was patrolling the area and found the victim. The name of the person of interest has not been released.
