The 16-year-old boy who was shot Tuesday night by an Atlanta police officer after he led them on a chase has been released from Grady Memorial Hospital, the GBI said Wednesday.

The teenager was one of two carjacking suspects police were chasing in the 3000 block of Continental Colony Parkway in southwest Atlanta, police spokesman Lukasz Sajdak said.

About 7:15 p.m., APD officers saw a stolen vehicle from a Fulton County police theft case that had two people inside, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said.

Police followed the car, which eventually crashed on the off-ramp of I-285 and Clark Howell Highway, Miles said. The teen, who was driving, left the car and was shot in the leg by the officer, who was not identified.

Police arrested the second suspect.

No charges have been filed against the teen who was shot, according to the GBI. Fulton police are investigating the case.

The GBI will investigate the officer-involved shooting, which is standard protocol. Results will be turned over to the Clayton County District Attorney's Office for review.
