Following a hunch helped police catch a suspect after a robbery and carjacking in the north Fulton area.

A Sandy Springs man told Channel 2 Action News that he felt like he was being followed to his home Monday night after he got some money from an ATM on Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

When he pulled into his driveway, two men with guns jumped out and demanded his car, cash and phone, the station reported. He went along with the demands, to protect his family.

But police soon were involved.

“Some of our officers spotted the vehicle once it entered the city of Dunwoody, both vehicles involved,” Sgt. Robert Parsons of Dunwoody police said.

After a chase, police arrested one person, and another ran into nearby woods, Channel 2 reported.

However, officers felt the man might try to hop a train at the nearby MARTA station. Indeed, he soon was seen there and was arrested.

The suspects’ names have not been released, and a possible third person involved has not been identified.
