Responding to a domestic dispute call that involved suicidal threats in Canton on Saturday, Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies shot a suspect outside the home who later died from his injuries.

Deputies found the unidentified suspect outside the home at 320 Hideaway Acres firing a 45 caliber handgun and ordered him to drop the weapon, according to a Cherokee County Sheriff’s statement. When he refused, he was shot by deputies.

Three deputies involved in the incident have been put on routine administrative leave with pay while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation investigates the shooting.

The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office said it would make no further comment, and a GBI spokesman could not be reached on Sunday.

The four-bedroom home on a wooded, 1-plus acre cul de sac lot is currently for sale, listed for $249,500 by Prudential Georgia Realty.
