A 19-year-old Forest Park man has been arrested and charged with the Sunday night shooting death of another teenager.

Forest Park police spokesman Maj. Chris Matson said officers responded to the Fox Hall Apartments on Forest Avenue just after 11:15 p.m. Sunday and found 17-year-old Robert Joseph White Jr. “with an apparent gunshot wound.” White was transported to Southern Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Few details were provided regarding the incident, but Matson said 19-year-old Thyrell Depree Donaldson was charged with murder in connection with White’s death. An initial news release issued Monday afternoon said Donaldson had not been detained, but Matson said shortly before 3:30 p.m. that the suspect had been arrested during a traffic stop.

Matson said the connection between White and Donaldson was unclear, as was a possible motive. Donaldson lived at the complex where the shooting occurred, Matson said, but White lived elsewhere in the city.

No further details were immediately available.
