Spalding County deputies are searching for the driver of a car that struck a 5-year-old girl on a bicycle Tuesday afternoon before leaving the scene.

The girl, who was riding her bike along Old Atlanta Road, suffered only cuts and bruises, Spalding sheriff’s Capt. Dwayne Jones said.

Jones said “the child suffered very minor injuries” and was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

Authorities described the car that hit her as a silver Pontiac G6 with Georgia tag RGH3488.
