A 16-year-old employee at a Clayton County McDonald's faces murder charges in connection with a workplace shooting that left an 18-year-old co-worker dead, police said Friday.

Corey Anderson Love of Jonesboro will be charged as an adult in the shooting death of Christopher Chambers.

Love walked into the restaurant on Tara Boulevard on Thursday, shot Chambers and left the scene, Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said.

Police found Chambers inside and unresponsive. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died.

The teenager accused of killing 18-year-old Christopher Chambers will faces charges as an adult.

Police say Love shot Chambers because he thought he stole his cellphone and wallet. He later turned himself into the police.

Love confronted Chambers, who was behind the counter, Channel 2 Action News reported. He was shot near the drive-thru. Customers were inside during the shooting.

Love was charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. He is being held at the regional youth detention center.

The McDonald's was closed early Friday but reopened later in the day.
