A man was arrested and a handgun and credit card skimmer were found in his car after a chase that began on Ga. 400, according to Sandy Springs police.

The man, identified as Dalvin Rodney Prince, 24, of East Point, was captured May 4 after the car in which he was a passenger crashed, according to the incident report.

The car, a Volkswagen, was one of two traveling northbound in the flex lane outside posted hours, police said.

Police stopped one car and signaled for Prince’s car to pull over, but it drove away, according to the report. The officer lost sight of the Volkswagen but later caught up to it after it crashed into a tree.

Two men ran from the car, and later a witness reported a man riding a bicycle down a road, police said. The man, identified as Prince, was detained and taken to police headquarters. He told police he was the passenger in the Volkswagen and that he stole the bicycle from an open garage or carport.

Prince was taken to North Fulton Hospital, where he was found to have multiple broken bones in his left hand and a broken left foot, police said. After he was treated, Prince was taken to the Fulton County jail.

Among the items found in the car were a Glock 22 and a card skimmer, according to police. No ammunition for the gun was found.

Prince was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a financial transaction card forgery device and burglary, according to the report.
