No bombs were found when police searched the Marietta home of a man police shot and killed last week after an officer’s wounding and a high-speed chase.
Police fatally shot Curtis Hicks on Friday after reports that he shot an officer and a female motorist, then led police on a chase along Ga. 400.
The Cobb County and the GBI bomb squads searched Hicks’ home in the 300 block of Oak Harbor Trail on Monday afternoon “to ensure the location was safe for all members of the investigation team to go inside, and also to ensure that the surrounding area for the residents was safe as well,” Marietta Police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said.
They learned Monday that Hicks may have had an explosive device at his home, Alpharetta Police spokesman George Gordon said.
The officer who was shot, David Freeman, was released from North Fulton Hospital on Monday, Alpharetta Police spokesman Gordon said.
Freeman was shot in the lower abdomen, right elbow, right shoulder, leg and hip. Police said both he and the female motorist, who’s recovering at North Fulton Hospital, are expected to be OK.
Why Hicks reportedly fired on the officer was not known.
