A woman and 17-year-old boy were arrested Friday and charged with the execution-style killing of a 15-year-old found dead earlier this week on an old Clayton County golf course.

The victim, identified by police Friday as Travon Crump, was found shot to death Tuesday night in the woods off Tee Trace near Riverdale.

Clayton County police Major Johnny Robinson said Friday that Contessa Viniesha Neal, 21, and Tajh Daeon Hare, 17, have confessed to shooting Crump and have been charged with murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime and aggravated assault.

Hare told Channel 2 Action News, as he was being taken from the Clayton County Police headquarters to jail, that he didn’t mean to kill Crump. When asked what he would say to Crump’s family, he said, “I apologize.”

Robinson said Neal and Hare live in the neighborhood where the crime occurred.

“The victim, they’re saying, was doing robberies and burglaries in the area, and was planning on doing a burglary at their homes,” Robinson said. “So at that point, they decided to lure him into the wood line and had planned on killing him.”

Neal “initially had the gun in her hands. She pulled the gun out and pointed to his head, and at that point, couldn’t pull the trigger,” Robinson said.

“She dropped the gun down, and the 17-year-old then snatched the gun from her, put it to the 15-year-old’s head and pulled the trigger,” the major said. “I would very much so call it an execution.”

He said police were not aware of any recent burglaries in the immediate area.
