A Cobb County man who was shot while sitting in a pickup truck near North Cobb High School has died after being taken off life support.

Daniel Perez, 25, died Monday, according to Acworth police spokeswoman Youlanda Leverette.

Perez was in the passenger seat of a pickup Friday night at the Shops at Blue Springs when two men approached the truck, police said. One of the men shot Perez in the head.

A father of three, Perez was with his brother at the time. He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

Perez is a North Cobb graduate, but police said the shooting wasn’t connected to the school.

“Detectives are finalizing a motive and actively working leads in this case, including forensic evidence recovered from the scene,” Leverette said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 770-974-1232.
