A Douglas County man could get four life sentences after his conviction on home-invasion charges that involved a former classmate, prosecutors said.

Detravius Sufur Jackson was convicted Thursday of home invasion, three counts of armed robbery, three counts of aggravated assault and gun-related charges in connection with the February 2015 incident, according to David Emadi, spokesman for the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

Officers at the scene said a man in his early 20s illegally entered the residence, held three men inside at gunpoint and demanded their cash, which amounted to about $220, Emadi said.

The homeowner was able to immediately identify Jackson as the gunman due to seeing part of his face unobstructed by the mask and recognizing his voice, Emadi said. The victims indicated the homeowner went to school with Jackson and had known him for years.

Jackson also stole a PlayStation 3 and a cellphone before pistol-whipping two of the three victims as he left the scene, according to Emadi.

Jackson’s alibi proved to be false, and he changed it several times in law enforcement interviews, according to prosecutors.

“This verdict ensures the defendant will finally be held accountable for violently assaulting and robbing the victims at gunpoint,” Assistant District Attorney Lara Myers said. “The message sent by the jury is one that makes clear this kind of criminal behavior is absolutely unacceptable and I am grateful for their swift decision in making sure the defendant is punished appropriately.”

Sentencing for Jackson is scheduled for June 8.
