A 41-year-old Atlanta man was arrested Wednesday and charged with nearly 100 offenses in connection with the alleged thefts of metal box containers valued at $325,000 total.
Elbert Charles Adams was being held Wednesday evening on $250,000 bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, charged with 67 felony counts of theft by conversion and 30 misdemeanor counts of theft by deception, according to the Marietta Police Department.
Marietta detectives determined that “Mr. Adams had sold over 100 metal box containers typically used for construction debris to Blaze Recycling at 317 Marble Mill Road in Marietta over an 18-month period,” police said in a news release.
The containers had been stolen from Waste Pro in Doraville and other, unknown victims, police said. So far, detectives have recovered 30 containers valued at $90,000.
Police said they were seeking to identify other theft victims, and the continuing investigation could lead to additional charges against Adams. Anyone with information on the case was asked to contact Detective R. Henson at 770-794-5345 or the Marietta police tip line at 770-794-6990.
