A Buckhead bar owner made a grisly discovery when he arrived at his Peachtree Road business Tuesday morning.

A man’s body was found about 8 a.m., entangled in security grating at the bottom of a staircase leading to Moondogs, a second-floor sports bar and dance club in the 3100 block of Peachtree Road, according to Atlanta police.

“It appears that the subject may have been trying to make entry into the business while the business was closed, and during the process of that, somehow got entangled in a security gate and was trapped around his neck,” Atlanta police Capt. Paul Guerrucci said.

He said the man, whose name has not been released, was apparently asphyxiated.

“It just appears to be an accidental death as a result of this individual trying to make entry into the business,” Guerrucci said
