A father was robbed at gunpoint while he played with his 5-year-old daughter at a southeast Atlanta park, police said.

The gunman threatened to kill the man if he didn’t hand over everything he had, according to a police report. The 31-year-old father told officers he pleaded with him to “please, just don’t hurt my girl.”

No one was injured in the Aug. 19 incident at Benteen Park, which borders Benteen Elementary School off Funston Street. The victim and his daughter were walking from the soccer field to the playground about 4:30 p.m. when they were approached.

He told police the man pointed a black pistol while his daughter cowered behind him.

After he handed over about $300 in cash, the victim said the gunman walked away. He was last seen walking down Cassanova Street, away from the park, according to the report.

He was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, black pants and black and white sneakers, the victim told police.

The incident is still under investigation.
