The 17-year-old killed outside a Carroll County bar last month was shot by two gang members hoping to “maintain (their) status,” an indictment alleges.

As many as 100 people — some alleged members of rival gangs — were gathered in the streets outside Carrollton’s Westside Bar and Grill when Timbaland Crowder was shot and killed in the early hours of May 31. Kevin Durand Jackson Jr. and Kadeem Rashad Terry, both alleged members of the Bloods street gang, were arrested two days later.

A Carroll County grand jury indicted both men last week in connection with the case.

Jackson and Terry were indicted on the same 10-charge document, which includes charges of malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault. Also included are weapons offenses and gang violations.

The indictment alleges that Jackson and Terry participated in criminal gang activity by shooting Crowder “to maintain (their) status” in the Bloods.

What exactly triggered the shooting was unclear, but a Carrollton police spokesman previously told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that witnesses suggested members of the Bloods and the rival Crips gang were involved in a dispute that morning. The large group gathered in the street when Crowder was shot reportedly had been asked to leave the bar when things “started getting a little heated inside.”

Jackson, 22, and Terry, 24, are both being held at the Carroll County jail without bond.
