An inmate in the Hall County jail allegedly asked three other prisoners to kill a man to keep him from testifying, according to an indictment.

Sean Patrick Mendes of Forsyth County was indicted June 21 on a charge of solicitation of murder, Lt. Scott Ware of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

The alleged murder solicitation came between Oct. 27, 2014, and Jan. 5, 2015, Ware said. The inmates came forward to officers.

Mendes was in the Hall County jail at the time as a boarded-out inmate from Forsyth County.

Mendes is serving a sentence on charges of rape, aggravated sexual battery and other offenses, according to state Department of Corrections records. He’s in the Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls with a maximum possible release date of 2044.
