A Coweta County couple has been charged with injuring their infant daughter after a GBI investigation, an official said.

Brian Scott Campbell, 34, and Amanda Renee Campbell, 31, were indicted Monday on second-degree child cruelty charges, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles confirmed.

The investigation began in October when the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office called in the GBI after a 4-month-old girl was allegedly dropped in August by Amanda Campbell, officials said.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta professionals examined the child and found other injuries that suggested previous abuse, Miles said. The case was turned over to Coweta County prosecutors.

The girl sustained a fractured rib, retinal hemorrhage and subdural hemorrhages, according to the indictment. The injuries allegedly occurred from June to August.

The Campbells are being held without bond at the Coweta County jail.
