The GBI is investigating at least two officer-involved shootings from Saturday.
While directing traffic outside the Georgia Dome, an off-duty Atlanta police officer shot a van driver who refused to stop, the GBI said.
The officer was in uniform, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The 46-year-old North Carolina man was driving a Ford F350 van on Northside Drive about 10:30 p.m., when the officer signaled for him to stop, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said.

“The officer fired his service weapon, striking the driver of the van,” Miles said.
The van continued left onto Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard from Northside Drive for several blocks before one of the six passengers in the van called 911.
When police arrived, the van had stopped in the 900 block of Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard.
The van driver, who police believe was unarmed, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition and he is expected to survive, Miles said.
A second officer-involved shooting happened in Stewart County just before midnight, the GBI said.
A Georgia State Patrol trooper saw a speeding Pontiac Coupe on Highway 27 near Milepost 11 in Lumpkin, GBI spokesman Terry Howard said.
The driver of the Pontiac refused to stop and crashed on Humber Field Road after a brief chase.
Howard said the driver got out and starting shooting at the trooper, who returned fire and killed the driver.
A woman was reported as a passenger in the Pontiac, but she was not involved in the shooting and was released after being checked out at a nearby hospital.
The GBI will continue its independent investigation to determine what occurred during the incidents and then turn the cases over to the counties’ district attorney’s offices for review.
