The family of a security guard killed at a South Fulton home owned by Eddie Drummond has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the ex-NFL player, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Brandon Jones, 23, of Covington, was shot and killed June 11 while working a party at the residence located in the 3600 block of Union Road.
At the time of the shooting, Ryan Jones told Channel 2 his brother got into an altercation with one of the people at the party.
“(Brandon) saw (the person) reach for something and he went to defend himself and got shot,” Ryan Jones said.
South Fulton police have not released any new details on the case.

Jones’ family filed the lawsuit claiming negligence and alleging Drummond failed to exercise ordinary care in keeping people safe, Channel 2 reported.
The family’s attorney said Drummond should’ve employed off-duty police officers at the party as well as private security.
“Brandon died for nothing,” Ryan Jones told Channel 2, “and I’m not going to let my little brother’s death go in vain.”
Drummond was a wide receiver who played several seasons for the Detroit Lions, ending his career after the 2007 season with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He is known for hosting lavish celebrity pool parties at the home, described in previous event listings as the NFL Mansion.
