Fake $78K check deposited in Georgia; 2 arrested

Two people were arrested after they deposited a fraudulent $78,000 check to a bank, the Albany Herald reported.

Brandin C. McFarlane, 27, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Tyeshia M. Gatson, 31, of Albany, were arrested Friday on felony third-degree forgery charges, police said.

Gatson allegedly transferred $3,500 to another account in her name Thursday, police said. Gatson, who police say was being directed by McFarlane, withdrew $18,500 from a $5,000 from different SunTrust branches Friday.
