A motorist was killed early Monday near Decatur after hitting a MARTA bus head-on, a spokeswoman for the transit agency said.

The vehicle was traveling on Clifton Springs Road near Pine Hill Road shortly after 1 a.m. when it crossed the center line and crashed into the bus, said MARTA spokeswoman Stephany Fisher.

The driver was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m., Fisher said. The name of the motorist was not immediately available.

One person on the bus was treated at the scene, Fisher said. The accident scene, near the Flat Shoals Parkway exit on I-285, was cleared at about 4 a.m.
