A 28-year-old Douglasville man was killed Sunday afternoon after he walked into the path of an oncoming train, according to Douglas County authorities.

Assan Reavis was walking near the intersection of Dallas and Bankhead highways in downtown Douglasville when he began to cross the tracks and was struck, said Randy Daniel, the Douglas County coroner.

Daniel said Reavis was wearing headphones and did not see or hear the train coming.

The incident happened around noon, and Reavis was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the coroner.

This is the second train-involved pedestrian fatality in recent days. A Fairburn man was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon under similar circumstances.
