A high school senior allegedly brought a gun on school grounds 24 hours before he was set to graduate, police said.

Brian Perry Belin Jr., 18, was arrested Friday morning at Hiram High School and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, according to a news release from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

Belin allegedly posted a photo on Instagram that showed him with a pistol in his waistband, the release said. The photo does not appear to be taken on school grounds.

School resource officers removed Belin from graduation practice, which was being held Friday morning, the release said. Belin told them the gun was inside his vehicle, which was parked on campus.

The sheriff’s office said it doesn’t believe Belin planned to conduct a school shooting.

He is being held without bond in the Paulding County Jail.
