A critically injured man remains in the hospital as Clayton County police work to determine his identity.
The man was hit by a car about 9:50 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Ga. 85 and Garden Walk Boulevard in Riverdale, Clayton County police Sgt. Ashanti Marbury said in a statement. The driver remained on scene and will not be charged.
First responders took the man to Atlanta Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
When officers visited the hospital to check the victim’s condition, they were unable to identify him, Marbury said.
“The male was not carrying any identification on his person, and due to his condition was unable to communicate with officers,” Marbury said.
The department has “exhausted all means” to identify the man and are now asking for any information that could help.
Police, who did not release a photo of the victim due to his condition, described him as having a dark complexion with low-cut salt and pepper colored hair and a bald spot. He is also believed to be between 50 and 60 years old, 5-foot-8 and roughly 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing all black at the time of the crash.
“The male was walking in the left turning lane of the southbound lanes of traffic on (Ga. 85) that allow entrance into the Laurel Park Apartments … so it is believed that he may live nearby in the area,” Marbury said.
