A roughly two-and-a-half-hour SWAT standoff in south Fulton County ended Wednesday night with the apprehension of a carjacking suspect, officials said.

Fulton County police Detective Melissa Parker said that, around 6 p.m., authorities tracked a vehicle stolen in a Cobb County carjacking to a home on Jerome Road near College Park. The suspect was seen running from the car and into a home.

“The SWAT team was called out, and the suspect refused to come out of the house,” Parker said. “They were forced to make a tactical entry.”

Flash-bangs were used as SWAT team members swarmed into the home around 8:30 p.m. The carjacking suspect was taken into custody and was not injured, Parker said.

His identity was not immediately available. It was unclear if he lived at the home where he was apprehended.

Information about the original incident was also not available.
