Raymond Camp Wilkins was arrested Wednesday on a charge of false report of a crime, a misdemeanor, according to Cobb jail records. He was released Thursday on $1,000 bond.

According to the arrest warrant, Wilkins told authorities Wednesday the damage to the car actually occurred Friday and that he was “too scared to tell his employer.” He worked for Mercedes-Benz of Marietta.

Wilkins, who has an East Point address, originally told police he was driving to refuel the car when the incident happened Monday afternoon. Wilkins said the car was "shot" near Wylie Road in Marietta, according to the warrant.

Wilkins originally said two men pulled up in a white Chrysler 200 with dark-tinted windows, police said at the time. The men supposedly fired two shots that hit the Mercedes.
