Police are looking for two people who followed a father and daughter to their southeast Atlanta home, held them at gunpoint and shot their Uber driver.
The passengers had just returned from a trip and were unloading their luggage when a man wearing a light gray hoodie and yellow bandanna approached them in the 900 block of Bouldercrest Drive about 5 a.m., Atlanta police said.
He "pushed them into the house and demanded money," Atlanta police spokesman Officer Donald Hannah said.
Atlanta police could not confirm the relationship between the two robbery victims, but Channel 2 Action News reported they were father and daughter.
“[The daughter] also stated she threw her purse at the suspect and he caught it and ran out of the house,” Hannah said. “That is when they heard a single gunshot and then a thud moments later.”
While the father and daughter were not hurt, the Uber driver was shot at least once on the left side.
“The driver attempted to escape by driving his vehicle off, however he struck a utility pole and came to a stop several feet away,” Hannah said.
The Uber driver told police as the robber was approaching, he noticed there was a second person with the robber.
The Uber driver was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, Channel 2 reported.
No other details were released.
