A 14-year-old and a 17-year-old were arrested Monday in connection with a deadly shooting at a Mableton trailer park over the weekend.

Roman Orlando Mejia-Nunez, 24, of Austell, died Saturday after friends tried to get him to a hospital following the early morning shooting. They made it about a mile from the Waverly Mobile Home Park on Plantation Hill Road before spotting a Cobb County police officer at a QuikTrip on Mableton Parkway.

The officer called for an ambulance, but Mejia-Nunez did not survive his injuries. He was pronounced dead at Grady Memorial Hospital.

On Tuesday, Cobb County police announced the arrests of two Austell teenagers.

Kevin Mendez, 17, and Tony Montano, 14, are both facing charges of murder and aggravated assault in Mejia-Nunez’s death, in addition to weapons charges. Montana is being charged as an adult, according to police.

Mendez and Montano had a running dispute with Mejia-Nunez for several weeks prior to the shooting, according to arrest warrants obtained by AJC.com. The victim showed up at the trailer park with his friends and the two groups clashed.

At some point, a gun was produced and Mejia-Nunez was hit in the side, according to the warrants.

Both Mendez and Montano are being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.

The deadly shooting remains under investigation.
