Two people were found dead Saturday with gunshot wounds in a Gwinnett County house, police said.

Officers responded shortly after noon and found the bodies of a man and a woman in the 1200 block of Bishops Lane in the Lawrenceville area, spokesman David Smith said in a statement.

A family member came to the home to check on the two residents but couldn’t make contact, Smith said.

“The family member went to the back of the home and was able to see through a back door the middle aged male resident deceased with a gunshot wound,” Smith said. “The family member called 911. Officers arrived and they located the elderly female resident also shot dead.”

The incident is believed to be domestic, but all possibilities are being investigated. There is a history of domestic-related calls at the home, according to Smith.

Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement officials also responded and took possession of multiple dogs in the home.

No identities were released, pending notification of family members.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 770-513-5300.
