An inmate who escaped from a work detail in Albany has been captured, the Georgia Department of Corrections said Thursday.

Dorcell Wilson was in the Albany Transitional Center on burglary charges when he escaped. He is serving a 10-year sentence.

He was found about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, more than 12 hours after the department issued a statewide lookout for him.

Transitional centers house selected offenders who are slowly reintegrating into society after spending time in state prisons, according to the department’s website. There are 13 in operation statewide.

One of the main functions is to provide work releases, which allow the inmates to obtain a paying job in the community.
