Five days after being charged in a neighbor's stabbing death, a Bartow County man also has been charged with killing her unborn child.
Tiburcio Santana, 39, of Cartersville, was arrested Thursday and charged with the murder of 36-year-old Yolanda Cruz, a neighbor who died “as a result of multiple stab wounds,” Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a news release. Authorities have since determined that Cruz was pregnant.
“Santana has now also been charged with feticide in the death of the unborn child,” Millsap said.
A possible motive for the stabbing was unclear. Santana and Cruz were neighbors at the Friendly Lane Mobile Home Park, Millsap said, but no prior incidents had been reported at either of their homes.
Santana was being held without bond at the Bartow County jail. A hold has also been placed by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Millsap said.
Visitation services for Cruz were scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at F.L. Sims Funeral Home in Smyrna.
