The suspect in a carjacking at knifepoint in Alpharetta was taken into custody Saturday morning in Cherokee County, police said.
Thomas Bennett, 47, was wanted for armed robbery, robbery and carjacking, Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon said. Alpharetta detectives and Cherokee County deputies found him at a residence. Further details were not available.
Bennett, who was considered armed and dangerous, will be taken to the Alpharetta North Fulton annex jail, Gordon said.
A woman was forced from her van Wednesday when she stopped at a red light at Rucker and Harris roads in Alpharetta, Gordon said earlier in the week. The woman attempted to fight back, but when the man pulled out a knife, she ran to a home nearby and called 911.
The van was recovered Thursday in Woodstock, officials said.
The suspect also is believed to be involved in an attempted robbery of a Walgreen’s pharmacy in Alpharetta on Wednesday night, Gordon said.
